This beautiful grade1 listed house surrounded by over 1,500 acres of private land is the perfect place to escape and get away from it all. The house dates back to the 16th century and features a wood panelled dining hall leading to cosy sitting areas and many other spaces suitable for celebrations or meetings.
There are several family rooms, including the beautiful wood-panelled dining room that can seat up to 96 people and the awe-inspiring Georgian ballroom. Along with several sitting rooms and a beautiful morning room. The large dining hall is ideal for family gatherings, large corporate meetings, training events, or five-star banquets. There’s even a private library that’s perfect for sitting back and relaxing during the cold winter months. It’s the perfect spot to sit back and take in the views of the estate’s surrounding parkland.
Sweeping, ornate staircases lead you upstairs to beautiful bedrooms. The house features 25 bedrooms. Each room has been individually designed and decorated with different and quirky decor. Some of the rooms even boast luxury fourposter beds which are guaranteed to give you a great night sleep. From the famous Merlin Room with its wood mediaeval panelling. Or the breathtaking Oak Room with its ornate Elizabethan ceiling. Or enjoy a stay in the Jane Austen Room, named after the famous author, which also features an anteroom with bunk beds.
There’s something for everyone
The estate also features its own tennis court, a private lake, indoor swimming pool complete with Jacuzzi and spa. Along with a rooftop golf tee. Or if you’d like to enjoy something different, there is even a basement casino and underground disco room.
The Wincanton Estate is in the perfect spot for sightseeing. As well as its own beautiful surrounding parkland and historic village there are lots of different places to visit nearby. Such as famous historic landmarks like Stonehenge or Glastonbury, famous for its music festivals. Or visit the famous Cadbury Castle, rumoured to be the site of Camelot.
