Location Grey Gables sits directly on the shores of Lake Windermere within the Lake District National Park. The postcode is LA23 3LH. Lake Windermere is the largest natural lake in England. The charming town of Bowness-on-Windermere is just a couple of minutes away by car. The nearest train station is Oxenholme which is around 45 minutes journey. Trains from London to Oxenholme station take around two and a half hours.

The Accommodation The accommodation sleeps up to a maximum of 10 guests in 5 double bedrooms (two of which can be made up into twins), all with en suites

GROUND FLOOR:

  • The cinema room has an impressive 65 inch screen and Cambridge Audio speakers. There is a gorgeous Mah Jong sofa from Roche Bobois creating the ultimate chill-out space to watch your choice of film in comfort

  • Kitchen / Dining room. Kitchen with stone work surfaces and quality appliances by Gaggenau. Beautiful pieces of Ralph Lauren, Andrew Martin and Van Thiel furniture make the most important room in the house a joy to be in! This kitchen is fully equipped with all the latest mod-cons including a ‘Quooker’ tap and three cookers which is enough for even the keenest cook. The adjacent breakfast area has a rustic green oak dining table and benches and sitting here you can enjoy the view to the lake. A few stairs lead to a slightly more formal dining area with a 3.5m bespoke log edge oak table made by Whetstone Oak
  • Family room
  • Games room with a bespoke 8ft pool table which is over-lit with modern pendant shades. Enjoy the flat screen TV and shelves full of books with information on the local area
  • Boot room with a multi coloured ‘Hunter’ Welly collection. Wet room and utility room with cloakroom, shower and laundry facilities

FIRST FLOOR:

  • Five double bedrooms all with en-suites. The bedrooms have floor to ceiling windows and four of the bedrooms have uninterrupted views of Lake Windermere. Three bedrooms have balconies. For extra comfort, all of the bedrooms have ViSpring beds. Two bedrooms have oval baths overlooking Lake Windermere, so you can have a soak whilst admiring a beautiful view. Two of the bedrooms have ladders leading to spacious mezzanine ‘chill out’ areas, with comfy cushions. All of the bathrooms have Mandarin Stone walls and enormous Drench showers

The Grounds The large terrace has a dining area with BBQ and extra seating. There are sun loungers for warmer weather. The grounds extend to an acre of gardens surrounding the house. The gardens are beautifully planted with native glasses and shrubs. The Lawns at the front and back of the house lead down to the lake. There is plenty of space outside for a game of rounders or badminton. The jetty is the perfect place to tie up a kayak or two and gives direct access to the water.
